NLC Cemetery Guidelines

Guidelines for Use and Maintenance of the Norway Lutheran Cemetery

  • Planting of trees or shrubs is not permitted. Flowers must be planted within 15 inches of the front of the headstone.
  • Please place items for display near the headstone for easier care of the gravesite. (12 inches preferred)
  • Fences, railing, hedges, and other bordering of lots or burial spaces are not allowed.
  • Please limit the amount of hanging items and solar lights to 2 per grave site. Must be LESS than 3 feet off the ground.
  • All markers and headstones must be approved by the Cemetery Board prior to the installation.
  • Alcoholic beverages and drugs of any type are prohibited.
  • Possession of any firearm on the cemetery grounds is prohibited with the exception of Military Honor Guards and law enforcement personnel.
  • Please do not drive or park on any grassy area.
  • In order to provide a clean and a more easily maintained cemetery, the Cemetery Board or assignee will remove all decorations not securely placed on headstone foundations. The removal periods will be during the months of March, May, and October.

Norway Lutheran Church’s Cemetery is sacred ground, dedicated to the memory of our loved ones.  Please show proper respect and reverence.

The cemetery is open to the public during daylight hours only.
